August 2009 ECPI Charleston Career EXPO




Members of the Charleston community gathered at ECPI Charleston on Saturday August 15 for instructor demonstrations, career information, financial aid consulting, door prizes, food, and more. Prospective students and their families enjoyed meeting current ECPI students and faculty and learning about the various IT, Business, and Medical programs that ECPI Charleston offers.

Day and Night students were treated to burgers and hot dogs at the recent student appreciation BBQ. Chef Rund and Chef Ellis did an exemplary job of cooking for everyone!

St. Patrick's Day Activities at ECPI Charleston





It was a busy March 17 at ECPI Charleston. The Student Ambassadors' Club held a St. Patrick's Day Buffet with cooking done by instructor Charlene Holmes. The Club raised almost $150 with proceeds going to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Also that day was the ECPI Spring Blood Drive. The Student Ambassadors Club donated over $200 to the American Red Cross and received a recognition plaque.

Two ECPI Phi Theta Kappa students nominated for trip of a lifetime



Layonee Phillips, of Ladson SC and Melissa Wright, of Goose Creek SC have been nominated for the Phi Theta Kappa International Scholar Laureat program and will be visiting foreign countries to learn about how their careers and business are handled in those countries. In late May 2009, Layonee, an IT Network Security student, will be visiting Australia and Melissa, also an ITNS student, will be traveling to Central Europe. These nominations are based on the high achievements that these scholars have attained at the ECPI College of Technology.

Professionally Dressed Winner!

Jeremy wins a gas card from ECPI Charleston for dressing professionally! Each Wednesday Kristie Cumbee, career services advisor, visits classrooms to see which students are professionally dressed and enters them into a raffle drawing.

ECPI Career Education EXPO a huge success!!





As you can see from the photos, the January 2009 EXPO was an exciting time for visitors and for faculty, staff, and the student ambassadors that volunteered their time. There were class demonstrations for Math, English, and Psychology as well as a medical assistant lab, medical administration demonstrations, a career services presentation, and a library display. The EXPO ran 3 days and was a great opportunity for prospective students and their families to see education in action.

HUM 205 Culture & Diversity class offers a "Taste of Culture"




On Tuesday November 18, students and faculty were treated to a "Taste of Culture" buffet hosted by Ms. Holmes' HUM 205 class. Delectable delights included West African pot roast, Asian steam buns, Swedish cabbage rolls, Caribbean Yams, Greek Cheesecake, Creole Sweet Potato Pie, and a host of other wonderful dishes. Entry fee to the feast included non perishable goods or $3.00 with proceeds donated to the Student Ambassador Food Drive.
